A surrealist artist that inspires me is Frida Kahlo. This painting is a very well told story. It shows the awfulness of hunting and the overkill hunters subject these poor animals to. Although because her head replaces that of a deer I think she was symbolizing how she feels hunted or preyed upon. I think she feels so strongly harassed, that’s why there are so many arrows embedded in her/the deer. Also taking a closer look into the background there is a storm and I think that can also indicate the kind of feelings swarming up inside of her. Moving on to my own surrealist work I think for my first time its an adequate job but not my finest. A very watered down version of my creativity.
